2009 Lake Burley Griffin Racewalking Championship

The 43rd Lake Burley Griffin Racewalking Carnival was another highly successful event with some great performances all round. Congratulations to Jared Tallent who broke his race record for the 20 mile event in walking 2:14:57 - a truly world class performance. A sensational performance from Jess Rothwell, also, in winning the 10 mile event in 1:14:33, only 24 seconds outside the course record held by the great Kerry Junna Saxby. Full results are on the Racewalking Australia site. Doug Fitzgerald's photos from the presentation night can also be viewed.

New Club committee

The Club held its AGM and BBQ in somewhat cold and windy conditions on 16 May. Congratulations to Mark Worrall on his election as Club President, and Phil Reading on moving up to Vice President. No-one offered to take over from Robin Whyte as Club Handicapper but Robin did get some consolation by taking second place in the Summer Handicap Series. For full committee details, see our About the Club page.
